Osmo Polyx Oil Tint is a professional-grade wood finish that enhances the natural beauty of your wood surfaces. This oil-based formula is easy to apply and provides long-lasting protection against wear and tear. It's perfect for use on a variety of wood types, including oak, pine, and mahogany, and can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces. One of the unique features of Osmo Polyx Oil Tint is its wide range of available colours. The oil is also water-resistant and resistant to heat and , making it ideal for use in high-traffic areas.

Application

Transparent colour: With Osmo Flat Brush, Osmo Microfibre Roller, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (Hand Pad Holder) or Floor Brush, apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain and spread well.
Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours under good ventilation. If a stronger colour intensity is desired, repeat the process (however maximal two coats).

Lightly stained effect: Within 20 minutes after application, wipe away product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours under good ventilation.

Intensive colour: For this application, we recommend Osmo Wood Wax Finish or Osmo Oil Stain.

Important: Apply maximum one coat of Polyx®-Oil Tints or Oil Stain to flooring.
(Not applicable for Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White, see Notes.) After thoroughly drying, a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil is to be carried out. Avoid covering during drying and curing. After 2-3 weeks, the surface is fully cured.

4. How do I apply Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints?

Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from old finishes. Sand the surface appropriately (P120-150 for flooring; P180-240 for furniture).
Application: Stir the product well. Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain using an Osmo Flat Brush, Microfibre Roller, or Floor Brush.
Drying: Allow approximately 24 hours to dry with good ventilation.
Second Coat: If a more intense color is desired, apply a second thin coat following the same method.

5. Do I need a clear top coat after applying this product?

Yes, for optimal durability, especially on flooring, it's recommended to apply one coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints followed by a clear coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil. However, for Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White, it's advised to use the same product for both coats to prevent yellowing.

6. What coverage can I expect?

One liter covers approximately 30 square meters with one coat, depending on wood type and surface condition.

7. Is this product safe for use on children's toys and food-contact surfaces?

Yes, once dry, it is safe for humans, animals, and plants, and complies with EN 71.3 standards for toy safety.

8. How do I maintain surfaces treated with this product?

Regular Cleaning: Use a dry mop or cloth. For more thorough cleaning, use Osmo Wash and Care.
Maintenance: For occasional refreshing, use Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner.

9. Can I use this product on dark or exotic wood species?

For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g., wenge, merbau, jatoba), it's recommended to use Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. A trial application is advised to ensure satisfaction with the result.

10. How should I clean tools after application?

Clean brushes and rollers with Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds) immediately after use.

11. Are there any precautions I should take during application?

Apply thin coats to avoid extended drying times.
Ensure good ventilation during drying.
