    Osmo UV-Protection Oil Tints

    20 in stock

Please Note: Colours were developed to appear in harmony with their respective wood species e.g. 426 Larch for Larch wood projects. The wood’s natural colour and character will influence the final result. Plus, the darker the colour, the stronger the UV-resistance. Please always trial apply! All exterior woods grey into a patina colour over time, however UV-Protection Oil Tints have been developed to maintain the wood's natural colour with the use of pigments to optimally match the wood's natural characteristics. Ideal for windows, doors, cladding, fencing and other vertically structured joinery (not recommended for flat surfaces such as decking). Natural oil-based and microporous finish does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Water and dirt resistant, moisture regulating and reduces wood swelling and shrinkage. Osmo 425 Oak UV Protection Oil gives optimal protection from the sun, similar to Osmo 420 but it improves the UV resistance further by also having a small amount of Oak pigment. The oak pigment will darken the wood slightly and accentuate the wood grain but we recommend ALWAYS do a test before application, sample sachet available. For exterior use only. Especially recommended for vertical surfaces such as timber cladding, windows and doors Prolongs the renovation time significantly when used as a top coat for staining wood Contains active ingredients for the preventative protection against algae and fungal decay. Key features Coverage (m2) per Litre: 18 Base: Solvent Paint Application: Brush, Roller Suitable Substrate: Exterior Woodwork, Window Frames, Doors Exterior: Exterior Drying Time: 12 Hours   PREPARATION Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%). UV-Protection-Oil Tints is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well using a flat stirring stick or spatula before use. Ideally, surfaces are sanded no finer than a P120 grit grade of sand paper. Sanding to finer grades will reduce required absorbency. If possible, and if the wood is absorbent, please apply first coat to all sides before installation. Fresh wood containing natural wood ingredients /extractives (eg:  Cedar, Teak, Mahogany or Iroko) are often less absorbent and need to weather off first before applying the product. Please refer to website ‘Suitability’ section for more details. Weathering helps ingredient rich wood become more absorbent and the wood finish adheres optimally. For renovation works, clean old microporous stains thoroughly – if necessary sand lightly. Clean and restore already greyed or weathered wood at the same time with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works. To maintain absorbency, avoid sanding surfaces finer than a P120 grit. Weather ingredient rich wood after sanding. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. Soft wood species like Pine or Spruce are more prone to blue stain, rot and insects. If desired, pre-treat these soft woods if possible on all sides with Osmo WR Base Coat. APPLICATION With Osmo Flat Brush or Osmo Microfibre Roller, apply thinly along the wood grain and spread well.Allow to dry for approx. 12 hours under good ventilation. Then apply the second coat.Alternatively the second coat can also be carried out with UV-Protection-Oil Extra Clear. When recoating colour treated surfaces, or for renovation works, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.

Do not thin. Stir well before use.If possible, please apply the first coat to all sides before installation.Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insects is desired, pre-treat the wood if possible on all sides with Osmo WR Base Coat. METHOD OF APPLICATION With Osmo Flat Brush or Osmo Microfibre Roller, apply thinly along the wood grain and spread well.Allow to dry for approx. 4-6 hours under good ventilation. Then apply a second coat. For renovation works, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient. NOTE Transparent colours are influenced by the natural colour of the wood and therefore they may deviate from the sample colours. Light transparent colour tones offer only limited UV protection; therefore they are not recommended for surfaces exposed to strong sunlight. Dried surface is at first satin-glossy and then satin. To extend the life of the coating, it is recommended to apply one final top coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra 420 Clear after thoroughly drying (not recommended for White 900). Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives which may leach out naturally when weathered. All colour tones can be mixed with each other.Starting from 2.5 litres per colour tone, available in 186 RAL Classic and 1950 NCS colour tones.Transparent finishes allow the substrate to shine through. Depending on the wood species, the appearance of the colour tone may deviate from the original RAL/NCS colour tone.Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain is furnished with biocides and therefore it is only to be used in outdoor areas. The added active ingredients delay or minimise the risk of algae and fungal attack. For effective protection, two coats are to be carried out. In accordance with the latest technical research, permanent protection against algae and fungal attack cannot be provided. Using power washers will severely decrease the coverage of the finish and general or multi-purpose cleaners will increase the frequency of maintenance and recoating. CARE Regular Cleaning: Damp cleaning with Osmo Decking Cleaner using Osmo Decking Cleaning Brush. Occasional Maintenance: If necessary, intensive cleaning and refreshing using Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel or Osmo Gard Clean. Recoating: Simply re-apply one coat onto the clean and dry surface when signs of wear become visible.

  • Osmo Decking Oil - Wiltshire Wood Flooring Supplies

    Osmo Decking Oil

    42 in stock

Osmo Decking-Oils protect and maintain timber decking, garden furniture and privacy screens made of numerous coniferous and fine woods, such as pressure impregnated Pine, Douglas Fir, Cedar, Oak or Bangkirai also suitable as a transparent colour treatment of Teak, Eucalyptus and other fine woods as well as thermally treated wood. Key Features  Approx. coverage: 24m²/L with one coat No. of coats: 2 Ideal application temperature: +10°C to 35°C Drying time: 12 hrs Sizes: 0.125L, 0.750L, 2.5L Application  For a clear and natural finish for decking, apply just two coats of 007 Teak Oil, which allows the wood to naturally grey over time. The darker the colour, the slower the greying process of the wood will start to appear. Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 can be used as the second coat after any of the coloured Decking Oils to provide a slip resistant surface. Recommended application is 35ml/m² SURFACE PREPARATION Bare wood species with a high content of natural wood extractives need to weather off (min. 4 weeks) before the initial treatment or be cleaned with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (degreaser).Resinous wood, such as Larch or Douglas Fir, needs to weather off for at least 6 weeks to improve absorbency. Pressure impregnated wood and tropical species like Massaranduba, Bangkirai, Garapa, Iroko need to weather off for at least 3 months. Cedar requires a 3 month weathering period to improve absorbency. Greyed and weathered wood can be refreshed with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel before applying Osmo Decking Oils. Avoid using jet / power washers to clean the surface as they can significantly affect the coverage of Osmo Decking Oils. Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%).Osmo Decking-Oil is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well using a flat stirring stick or spatula before use. Thoroughly clean or lightly sand old microporous stains or completely remove old varnishes before application. If any sanding works are carried out some fresh wood species must be weathered as directed above to improve absorbency once more. Sanding to finishing grades of no more than a P120 grit are recommended. Always wear a dust mask when sanding. If possible, and if the wood is absorbent please apply the first coat to all sides before installation. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces. If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insect attack is desired ( eg soft woods) , pre-treat the wood, if possible on all sides, with Osmo WR Impregnation. METHOD OF APPLICATION Use stiff brush (Osmo Flat Brush) or a lint free cloth (e.g. for furniture) and apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood surface along wood grain. For a quick and easy application, we recommend using Osmo Decking Brush (150 mm) which was tailor-made for decking and allows you to apply the finish while standing.Allow for good ventilation while drying. Lower temperatures and higher humidity levels will delay drying.Once dry apply the second coat – also thinly. If a less intensive colour is desired, the second coat should be carried out with clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430. Generally the more rich and dark the colour chosen, the higher the level of UV protection offered. Avoid applying clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 as a stand alone finish as this offers limited UV protection. NOTE Osmo Teak-Oil 007  is a clear decking oil finish and therefore offers only little protection against UV radiation (greying). As a clear top coat for fence panels / screens, we recommend Osmo UV-Protection-Oil/UV-Protection-Oil Extra. For decking the clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 should be applied over 1 x coat of a coloured Osmo Decking Oil. Clear Anti-Slip Decking oil 430 offers higher pigment protection which increases the durability of the finish against wear and weather. For especially mechanically loaded areas (e.g. decking), we recommend checking the finish at least once a year and to eventually recoat the surface with the appropriate finish.Due to their surface properties, ribbed or grooved as well as rough (sawn) wood surfaces absorb more product per square metre than smooth surfaces. Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives ( eg Larch ) which may leach out naturally when weathered. Weathered, bare wood surfaces can be refreshed with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-gel. Using jet/power washers or multi-purpose cleaners will increase the frequency of maintenance and recoating. CARE Regular Cleaning: Damp cleaning with diluted Osmo Decking Cleaner using Osmo Decking Cleaning Brush. Occasional Maintenance: If necessary, intensive cleaning and refreshing using Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel or Osmo Gard Clean ( for green growth). Recoating: Simply re-apply one coat onto the clean and dry surface when signs of wear become visible.
