SAIT 407mm (16") Cleaning & Buffing Pads are professional floor maintenance pads designed for use with standard 16-inch (407mm) rotary floor buffers. Manufactured for cleaning, polishing, oil application and floor maintenance, each pad is colour coded according to its intended use and level of aggressiveness.
The lighter the pad colour, the less aggressive it is on the floor surface. Choosing the correct pad helps achieve the best results while reducing the risk of damaging the floor finish.
Choosing the Correct Pad Colour
| Colour | Recommended Uses |
|---|---|
| White | Final polishing, applying Bona Craft Oil 2K, Bona Hard Wax Oil, Osmo Maintenance Oil, dry buffing and as a backing pad for Bona Sanding Screens and SAIT Sanding Screens. |
| Red | Routine maintenance, removing light scratches and imperfections, light buffing and preparing fully dried Bona Craft Oil 2K before applying Bona Traffic HD or Bona Traffic HD Raw. Can also be used with sanding screens to keep them securely in position during floor sanding. |
| Green | Periodic deep cleaning, maintenance oil application and removal of light wax build-up. Many flooring professionals also wrap Bona Oil Cloths around the pad to apply Osmo Maintenance Oil, work maintenance oils evenly into the timber and lightly buff the surface. |
| Brown | Working penetrating oils, including Bona Craft Oil 2K, into the timber during application. Ideal for larger flooring projects where machine application is preferred. |
Why Choose SAIT Cleaning & Buffing Pads?

- Colour coded for specific cleaning and finishing applications.
- Suitable for applying oils, polishing and maintenance.
- Compatible with standard 16-inch rotary floor buffers.

Professional Flooring Advice
For Bona Craft Oil 2K applications, many professional floor finishers use the White or Brown pad to work the oil into the timber before removing all surplus oil using Bona Oil Cloths.
Before applying Bona Traffic HD or Bona Traffic HD Raw, allow the Craft Oil 2K to dry fully, then lightly buff the surface with a Red pad and vacuum thoroughly to remove any remaining pigment or residue.
Always choose the least aggressive pad capable of completing the task. Using a pad that is too aggressive may dull or damage the floor finish.
