Osmo Maintenance Oil 1L is a fast-drying maintenance treatment for refreshing dull or lightly worn wooden floors previously finished with Osmo Polyx-Oil. Applied in one exceptionally thin coat, it restores the appearance of the existing finish and helps maintain its protective properties without requiring complete sanding.
Particularly useful for entrances, walkways, restaurants, shops and other heavily used areas, Maintenance Oil dries in approximately 3–4 hours and provides excellent coverage of approximately 40–60m² per litre.
Wiltshire Wood Recommendation
Apply Maintenance Oil before the existing finish wears through to bare timber. The product must be spread extremely thinly and all excess removed. Applying too much can cause slow drying, tackiness and an uneven sheen.
Key Benefits
- Refreshes dull and lightly worn oiled wooden floors
- Helps maintain the existing surface protection
- Can postpone the need for sanding and complete renovation
- Ideal for high-traffic domestic and commercial flooring
- Fast drying in approximately 3–4 hours
- Approximately 40–60m² coverage per litre
- Requires one exceptionally thin maintenance coat
- Suitable for hand or machine application
- Available in four finishes to suit different Osmo floor treatments
Available Finishes
| Finish | Recommended Use |
|---|---|
| 3079 Clear Matt | For flooring with an existing matt Osmo finish. |
| 3081 Clear Satin | For flooring with an existing satin Osmo finish. |
| 3440 White Transparent Satin | For suitable white-pigmented Osmo finishes where the pale appearance needs to be maintained. |
| 3098 Clear Semi-Matt Anti-Slip R9 | For suitable Osmo anti-slip flooring systems requiring an R9 maintenance finish. |
Important: Match the Maintenance Oil to the sheen and colour of the existing Osmo finish. Clear variants can deepen the natural colour of the timber, while the White Transparent variant contains pigment. Always complete a representative test area before treating the entire floor.
Suitable For
- Interior wooden flooring treated with Osmo Polyx-Oil
- Solid and engineered wooden floors
- Parquet and herringbone flooring
- Domestic and commercial environments
- Entrances, walkways and other frequently used areas
- Local maintenance of smaller worn areas
Not Suitable for Bare or Greyed Timber: Maintenance Oil is intended to refresh an existing sound Osmo finish. Bare, greyed, deeply damaged or heavily worn timber must normally be sanded and treated with the appropriate complete finishing system.
Surface Preparation
- Vacuum or sweep the floor thoroughly to remove loose dust, dirt and abrasive grit.
- Clean the surface with Osmo Intensive Cleaner following its instructions.
- Damp-rinse with clean water to remove remaining cleaner and contamination without saturating the timber.
- Allow the floor to dry completely before applying Maintenance Oil.
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, sound and free from dust, grease, polish, silicone and incompatible residues.
- Stir the Maintenance Oil thoroughly. It is ready to use and must not be thinned.
How To Apply
- Complete a small test area to confirm the appearance, sheen and drying performance.
- Apply Maintenance Oil very thinly and evenly along the direction of the wood grain using an Osmo Double Blade Scraper or microfibre roller.
- Work the oil thoroughly into the existing finish using a white pad, then remove all excess product.
- For smaller areas, apply an exceptionally small quantity using an Osmo Easy Pad or lint-free cloth.
- Check the surface from several angles and remove any wet patches, heavy deposits or application marks.
- Allow approximately 3–4 hours’ drying with good ventilation before returning the floor to use.
3098 Anti-Slip: Do not rub in or buff Maintenance Oil 3098 Semi-Matt Anti-Slip with a white pad or single-disc machine. Follow the product-specific application guidance to preserve its anti-slip performance.
