Application

SURFACE PREPARATION

Wood surface must be clean, dry (moisture content max. 18 %) and free of dust.
Osmo Maintenance Oil is ready to use. Do not thin.
Stir well before use.
Clean the surface thoroughly with Osmo Intensive Cleaner and rinse (damp mopping) with clear water.
The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

With Osmo Double Blade Scraper or Osmo Microfibre Roller, apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain and rub into the wood with a white pad (do not rub in 3098). Remove excess product.
For smaller areas, Osmo Maintenance Oil can be applied with a lint-free cloth.
Allow for good ventilation while drying.

NOTE

The maintenance results are influenced by several factors, including the condition of wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required. If wood is raw or already greyed, the surface must be sanded and treated with Osmo Polyx®-Oil. Do not rub in Maintenance Oil 3098 Semi-Matt/Anti-Slip with a single disc machine.

2. What surfaces can I use Osmo Maintenance Oil on?

This product is ideal for maintaining interior wood surfaces, including:

Wooden flooring treated with hardwax oils (e.g., Osmo Polyx-Oil).
Furniture, worktops, and other oiled wooden surfaces.
Wooden stairs and panelling.

3. How do I apply Osmo Maintenance Oil?

Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust or dirt. For best results, clean the surface with Osmo Wash and Care before applying.
Application: Stir the oil well. Apply a thin, even coat using a lint-free cloth, Osmo Floor Brush, or Microfibre Roller.
Buffing: Use a single-disc machine or buff by hand with a soft cloth to achieve a uniform finish.
Drying: Allow the surface to dry for approximately 4-6 hours under good ventilation.

4. How often should I use Osmo Maintenance Oil?

Apply as needed when the finish appears dull or worn. For high-traffic areas, maintenance may be required more frequently. Typically, 1-2 applications per year are sufficient for most surfaces.

5. Does this product require sanding before reapplication?

No sanding is necessary unless the surface has been heavily damaged or treated with a non-compatible product. Simply clean the surface thoroughly before applying Osmo Maintenance Oil.

6. Is Osmo Maintenance Oil safe for food-contact surfaces?

Yes, once fully dried, Osmo Maintenance Oil is safe for use on food-contact surfaces like kitchen worktops. It complies with EN 71.3 standards for toy safety.

7. Can I use Osmo Maintenance Oil on lacquered or varnished surfaces?

No, this product is specifically formulated for oiled wood surfaces. It is not suitable for lacquered or varnished finishes.
