Bona 407mm Buffing Pads (16") are professional floor buffing and maintenance pads supplied in packs of 5 for use with standard 16-inch (407mm) rotary floor buffers.
Available in White, Tan (Beige), Red, Green and Black, each colour provides a different level of aggressiveness for polishing, floor maintenance, cleaning, oil application and surface preparation.
The lighter the pad colour, the less aggressive it is on the floor surface. Selecting the correct pad helps achieve the required result while reducing the risk of unnecessarily marking or removing an existing finish.
Choosing the Correct Bona Pad

The least aggressive pad in the range. Ideal for polishing, light buffing and as a backing pad for sanding screens.
In professional wood-floor finishing, White pads are also particularly useful for working thin applications of Bona Craft Oil 2K and Osmo Maintenance Oil evenly across the timber. They can also be used beneath Bona 407mm Sanding Screens and SAIT 407mm Sanding Screens. |
| Tan (Beige) | Designed for polishing and gentle finishing. Particularly useful for final buffing of suitable oil and hard wax oil finishes where a smooth, even surface is required without aggressive abrasion. |

Suitable for routine cleaning, light buffing and surface preparation.
The Red pad is also an important part of the Bona Craft Oil 2K system when the dried oil is to be overcoated with Bona Traffic HD or Bona Traffic HD Raw. Once the Craft Oil is completely dry, the floor is buffed with a Red pad and thoroughly vacuumed before the lacquer is applied. |

Designed for periodic cleaning and oil maintenance and is more aggressive than the Red pad.
For professional oil-maintenance work, we also use Green pads with Bona Oil Cloths wrapped around the pad. This provides a useful machine-assisted method for applying or removing very small quantities of oil, laying off suitable finishes and carrying out final buffing. This technique works particularly well with Osmo Maintenance Oil, where a very thin and even application is important. |
| Black |
The most aggressive pad currently stocked in the Bona range at WWFS. Designed for heavy-duty cleaning and polish stripping.
Use only where aggressive cleaning or removal is required, as a Black pad may dull, abrade or remove an existing floor finish. |

Professional Flooring Advice
Always select the least aggressive pad capable of completing the required work. A more aggressive pad is not necessarily better and may unnecessarily dull, scratch or remove an existing floor finish.
For oil application and maintenance, use small quantities of product and work them evenly across the timber. Any surplus oil should be removed rather than being left as a heavy surface film.
Bona Oil Cloths can be used by hand or wrapped securely around a suitable pad for machine-assisted oil application, lay-off and removal of surplus product.
Bona Craft Oil 2K & Traffic
When Bona Craft Oil 2K is being used beneath a Bona Traffic lacquer, all excess oil must first be removed and the Craft Oil allowed to dry completely.
Preparing Craft Oil 2K Before Traffic
- Allow coloured Bona Craft Oil 2K to dry fully in accordance with the current Bona instructions.
- Check the surface with a clean cotton or paper cloth for pigment transfer.
- If noticeable pigment transfers, allow additional drying time.
- Once completely dry, buff the floor evenly using a Red Bona Pad.
- Vacuum the complete floor thoroughly to remove loosened pigment and residue.
- Proceed with the specified Bona Traffic HD or Bona Traffic HD Raw system.
Use with Sanding Screens
The White Bona pad can be used as a backing pad beneath professional 407mm sanding screens during floor preparation, denibbing and surface refinement.
