Bona R848 is a professional-grade, hard-elastic, one-component silane wood flooring adhesive designed for the fully bonded installation of engineered wood flooring, engineered parquet and other dimensionally stable wood floors.
Its strong initial grab and excellent rib stability help hold flooring securely during installation, while its elastic bond reduces stress transferred between the timber and the subfloor. Bona R848 can also be used with suitable solid wood boards up to 190mm wide, subject to the flooring manufacturer's installation requirements.
Why Choose Bona R848?
- Strong initial grab for secure board placement
- Hard-elastic bond helps reduce stress on the subfloor
- Excellent adhesive rib stability
- Easy to spread using a suitable notched flooring trowel
- Suitable for use with compatible underfloor heating systems
- Floor can normally accept loads after approximately 24 hours
- Primer is generally not required on suitable, properly prepared subfloors
- Up to two years' shelf life when stored correctly in the original unopened container
Suitable Flooring Types
Bona R848 is particularly suitable for bonding:
- Engineered wood flooring
- Engineered parquet flooring

Subfloor Preparation
The subfloor must be dry, sound, clean, level and free from dust, grease, laitance, loose material and anything that could affect adhesion. Existing coatings, adhesive residues and contaminants must be assessed and treated appropriately before installation.
Check the subfloor moisture level and confirm that it is within the limits required by Bona, the wood flooring manufacturer and the relevant British Standards. Uneven areas should be mechanically prepared and levelled using a compatible flooring system where required.
Application
- Allow the adhesive and flooring to reach a suitable installation temperature.
- Confirm that the subfloor is dry, sound, level and properly prepared.
- Spread Bona R848 evenly using the appropriate notched trowel.
- Only apply as much adhesive as can be covered within the stated open time.
- Place the flooring into the wet adhesive and press firmly to achieve full transfer.
- Check regularly that the back of the flooring is receiving sufficient adhesive contact.
- Remove fresh adhesive contamination immediately using a suitable cleaning method.
- Avoid loading or heavily trafficking the installation for approximately 24 hours.
Important: Always read the current Bona Technical Data Sheet and the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions before use. Installation conditions, subfloor moisture, board dimensions and floor construction can affect product suitability.
