V4 publishes this as CDE Rustic Oak but does not separately define CDE in its public grade FAQ. Treat it as an expressive rustic selection and use the exact product imagery/samples; obtain V4's written CDE tolerances before publishing more specific knot limits.

These product-specific instructions summarise the current V4 How to Install Engineered Wood Flooring and V4 UFH guidance requirements. Fitting should be completed by an experienced wood-floor installer.
Before delivery and acclimatisation
- Use an experienced wood-floor fitter and complete all wet trades before delivery.
- Maintain approximately 18–24°C and 45–65% relative humidity before, during and after fitting.
- Store engineered boards sealed and flat in the fitting room for at least three days; solid boards require at least seven days.
Subfloor preparation and moisture
- The subfloor must be sound, clean, dry and free of paint, plaster, oil, dust and movement.
- Check flatness with a 2 m straightedge. Variation must not exceed 3 mm; level high or low areas before fitting.
- Measure and record subfloor moisture with the correct calibrated meter. Apply a compatible surface damp-proof membrane where readings or construction require it.
- Secure loose timber subfloors, countersink fixings and overlay uneven boards with suitable flooring-grade plywood without aligning joints.
- For full bonding, mineral subfloors must be below 65% RH; timber subfloors should not exceed 11% and should be within 2% of the flooring.

Fitting this floor
- Dry-lay and mark accurate centre and control lines before applying adhesive; check the pattern remains square throughout the room.
- Spread only as much flexible wood-floor adhesive as can be covered within its open time, using the manufacturer’s specified notched trowel.
- Press every block or board into a continuous adhesive bed and confirm full adhesive transfer. Patterned floors must not be floated.
- Keep the first rows aligned while the adhesive grabs, then re-check measurements frequently to prevent the pattern stepping.
- Clean adhesive from the face immediately with the approved cleaner and allow the full curing time before traffic or furniture.

Expansion, inspection and completion
- Provide at least a 15 mm perimeter gap (or the larger manufacturer-calculated allowance) at walls, door frames, pipes, hearths and fixed obstructions.
- Use movement breaks between rooms and wherever the manufacturer’s maximum uninterrupted span would be exceeded.
- Allow for cutting waste, grading and natural variation; mix boards across packs before fixing.
- Stop and contact Wiltshire Wood Flooring Supplies before fitting if the product, subfloor, site readings or proposed method do not match these requirements.
Compatibility
This engineered V4 Wood Flooring floor is compatible with underfloor heating when the complete system is prepared and operated exactly as specified below.
Before installation
- Confirm that the flooring, UFH system, screed, controls, adhesive and underlay are mutually compatible before delivery.
- Commission, test and document the complete heating system before flooring is installed; repair screed cracks and hot or cold spots first.
- Measure and record the subfloor moisture at the correct test points. Do not fit until it meets both the floor and adhesive manufacturer’s limits.
- Maintain stable room humidity and use floor-temperature sensing. Rugs and furniture can create local heat build-up.
- This patterned floor must be fully bonded; floating installation is not permitted on the WWFS flooring template.

Heating procedure and temperature limits
- Engineered V4 floors are compatible; solid V4 floors are not. Full bonding is preferred wherever the system and subfloor allow.
- The temperature at the wood surface, including beneath rugs, must never exceed 27°C.
- Electric heating mats must be encapsulated beneath at least 5 mm of fibre-reinforced smoothing compound; wood must never contact a loose mat directly.
- Keep the heating off during fitting and for 48 hours afterwards, then raise the temperature by no more than 1°C per day.
- Avoid sudden thermostat changes and maintain approximately 45–65% relative humidity in service.
Important
- Keep the commissioning, moisture and temperature records with the installation paperwork.
- Do not fit if the UFH supplier, adhesive supplier and flooring requirements conflict; obtain a written project specification first.
