Osmo Intensive Cleaner 1L is a highly effective, lightly alkaline cleaning concentrate for removing stubborn organic and inorganic dirt from oiled and waxed wooden surfaces. It provides intensive cleaning before maintenance or renovation and can help avoid sanding where the existing finish remains suitable for re-treatment.
Suitable for interior and exterior surfaces, it can be used on wooden floors, furniture, worktops and other treated timber. It is also suitable for cleaning plastics, stainless steel and other water-resistant surfaces, subject to a trial application.
Wiltshire Wood Recommendation
Use Osmo Intensive Cleaner for occasional deep cleaning before applying a suitable maintenance coat. For regular floor cleaning, use Osmo Wash and Care. Always work in small, manageable sections, rinse thoroughly and never allow the cleaning solution to dry on the surface.
Key Benefits
- Highly effective concentrated intensive cleaner
- Removes stubborn organic and inorganic dirt
- Suitable for preparing oiled and waxed wood before maintenance
- Can provide an alternative to sanding where the existing finish remains suitable
- Suitable for manual and machine cleaning
- Can be used on interior and exterior surfaces
- Suitable for domestic, public and commercial environments
- Approximately 30–100m² coverage per litre
Suitable For
- Oiled and waxed wooden floors
- Solid and engineered wood flooring
- Parquet and herringbone flooring
- Wooden furniture and worktops
- Interior and exterior treated timber
- Plastics and stainless steel
- Other water-resistant surfaces following a trial application
Important: Never use Osmo Intensive Cleaner undiluted. The cleaner can strip or reduce an existing hardwax-oil finish, and treated wood will normally require re-oiling after cleaning. Wear suitable protective gloves and eye protection, protect surrounding sensitive surfaces and always complete a trial application first. Undiluted product may discolour oak and other extractive-rich timbers.
How To Use
- Remove loose dust, dirt and debris using a vacuum cleaner, firm broom or the Dust-Mop attachment supplied with the Osmo Floor Cleaning Kit.
- Dilute one part Osmo Intensive Cleaner with 10–20 parts clean water. Use approximately 1:20 for lighter cleaning and no stronger than 1:10 for heavily soiled surfaces.
- Apply the diluted solution evenly to a small, manageable section using a suitable brush or applicator.
- Leave the surface wet for approximately 3–4 minutes to loosen the existing dirt and contamination. Do not allow the solution to dry.
- Agitate the surface for a further 2–3 minutes using a suitable red or green cleaning pad. Larger floor areas can be processed with a compatible single-disc machine.
- Damp-rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and remove the dirty solution using the Osmo Micro-Mop Plush or a lint-free cotton cloth. Do not saturate wooden flooring.
- Allow the cleaned surface to dry thoroughly with good ventilation. Depending on the timber, temperature and humidity, drying before re-treatment may take 24–48 hours.
- Once completely dry, restore the surface with the appropriate Osmo Maintenance Oil or Osmo Polyx-Oil Original.
Choosing the Correct Treatment
| Surface Condition | Recommended Treatment |
|---|---|
| Regular everyday cleaning | Use diluted Osmo Wash and Care. |
| Heavier dirt, grease or embedded contamination | Deep-clean with Osmo Intensive Cleaner before appropriate re-treatment. |
| Partially worn finish requiring Maintenance Oil | Use a light Intensive Cleaner solution, typically approximately 1:20, before applying the correct Osmo Maintenance Oil. |
| Heavily soiled or depleted finish requiring Polyx-Oil | Use a stronger dilution where necessary, but never stronger than 1:10, before applying the appropriate Osmo Polyx-Oil. |
| Bare, damaged or extremely dirty timber | Sanding may still be required before refinishing. |

Osmo Intensive Cleaner is intended for occasional intensive cleaning and preparation rather than regular maintenance. Because it can reduce or remove the existing oil and wax treatment, assess the cleaned surface once fully dry and apply the appropriate Osmo maintenance or finishing product where required.
