Description

Morrells Induro XL1 is a high-performance single-pack polyurethane waterborne floor lacquer designed to provide a durable, clear and non-yellowing finish for wooden floors in both domestic and commercial environments.

This fully crosslinked floor lacquer is ready to use straight from the container, meaning there are no pot-life limitations typically associated with two-component systems. The self-levelling formulation provides excellent flow and clarity, helping to enhance the natural appearance of timber flooring while delivering strong protection against abrasion, scuffs and everyday spillages.

Induro XL1 is suitable for use on both solid and engineered wood flooring and provides a strong yet flexible coating with excellent chemical and mechanical resistance. It is ideal for areas with light to medium traffic and can also be used in higher traffic environments when additional coats are applied.

For best results, Induro XL1 should be used after applying Morrells GP Wood Floor Sealer to enhance the natural warmth and grain of the timber. On oily or tropical hardwoods, Morrells Isosil shellac-based sealer is recommended to isolate natural oils and contaminants before applying the lacquer system.

• 2 coats Morrells Induro XL1 for domestic environments
• 3 coats Morrells Induro XL1 for commercial or higher traffic areas

Induro XL1 can also be applied directly to properly prepared timber where a primer is not required.

Application Guidance

Ensure the floor has been properly sanded and is clean, dry and free from sanding dust before application.

Apply the lacquer using a suitable floor roller, mohair pad or T-bar applicator, working evenly along the grain of the wood. Avoid pooling and ensure consistent coverage across the floor surface.

Lightly denib between coats using a fine abrasive (150–180 grit mesh) before vacuuming and applying the next coat.

For environments requiring increased durability, Morrells Induro XL2 Flooring Lacquer provides a higher wear resistance for heavy commercial traffic.

FAQs

1. What is Morrells Induro XL1 Floor Lacquer used for?
Morrells Induro XL1 is a waterborne single-pack polyurethane floor lacquer designed to protect wooden floors while enhancing their natural appearance. It provides a durable, clear and non-yellowing finish suitable for both domestic and commercial wood flooring.

2. What types of wood flooring can Induro XL1 be used on?
Induro XL1 is suitable for most solid and engineered wood flooring including common species such as oak, pine and other hardwoods used in interior flooring applications.

3. Do I need to use a primer before applying Morrells XL1?
While XL1 can be applied directly to properly prepared timber, it is recommended to use Morrells GP Wood Floor Sealer beforehand to improve adhesion and enhance the natural warmth of the wood. For tropical or oily hardwoods, Morrells Isosil shellac-based sealer should be used.

4. How many coats of Morrells XL1 should be applied?
For domestic environments, two coats of XL1 are typically recommended. In higher traffic areas or commercial environments, three coats are generally applied to achieve greater durability.

5. How long does Morrells XL1 take to dry?
Under normal conditions (approximately 18–20°C with good ventilation), the lacquer is touch dry in around 20–30 minutes and can usually be recoated after 2–3 hours.

6. When can the floor be walked on after applying XL1?
Light foot traffic is usually possible after approximately 24 hours. However, the finish will continue to cure and typically reaches full hardness after around 5–7 days.

7. Do I need to sand between coats of Morrells XL1?
Yes, light sanding or denibbing between coats is recommended using a fine abrasive such as 150–180 grit mesh. This helps remove minor grain raise and ensures proper adhesion of subsequent coats.

8. What coverage does Morrells XL1 provide?
Morrells XL1 typically covers approximately 40m² per 5 litres depending on the porosity of the timber, surface preparation and application method.

9. Can Morrells XL1 be used in commercial environments?
Yes, XL1 can be used in commercial environments with light to medium traffic when sufficient coats are applied. For heavy commercial use or areas with very high traffic, Morrells Induro XL2 Flooring Lacquer may be more suitable.

10. Does Morrells XL1 yellow the wood over time?
No. Induro XL1 is formulated with non-yellowing properties, helping maintain the natural appearance of the timber over time.

11. How should Morrells XL1 be stored?
Store the product in a cool, dry environment away from frost and direct sunlight. Ensure the container is tightly sealed when not in use and store in accordance with the manufacturer’s safety recommendations.
