Balmoral Originals Oak Flooring - 150mm – Natural Matt Oak is part of our carefully selected real-wood flooring range, chosen for its construction, finish and natural character.
A well-balanced 150mm European oak plank with a smooth surface and a straightforward choice of factory-applied finishes.
The narrower board width gives a traditional rhythm, while the engineered construction offers greater dimensional stability than an equivalent solid plank.

Natural timber and grading
Grading describes appearance rather than quality. Natural timber varies from board to board, so differences in tone, grain, knots, filler, sapwood and surface texture should be expected.
Wiltshire Wood Flooring Supplies advice
We recommend ordering a representative free sample before purchasing full packs. The subfloor, room conditions and any underfloor-heating system should be checked as part of the specification.

These product-specific instructions summarise the current BrooksFloor engineered, multi-ply, UFH and herringbone fitting guides requirements. Fitting should be completed by an experienced wood-floor installer.
Before delivery and acclimatisation
- Use a trained wood-floor fitter and complete all wet trades before delivery.
- Maintain approximately 18–20°C and 50–65% relative humidity; for planks wider than 175 mm do not exceed 60% RH.
- Keep sealed packs flat and supported in the fitting room; only open each pack immediately before use.
Subfloor preparation and moisture
- The subfloor must be sound, clean, dry and free of paint, plaster, oil, dust and movement.
- Check flatness with a 2 m straightedge. Variation must not exceed 3 mm; level high or low areas before fitting.
- Measure and record subfloor moisture with the correct calibrated meter. Apply a compatible surface damp-proof membrane where readings or construction require it.
- Secure loose timber subfloors, countersink fixings and overlay uneven boards with suitable flooring-grade plywood without aligning joints.
- Brooks specifies approximately 12–14% moisture for timber subfloors and 3.5% moisture content, or 35–40% RH by slab test, for cementitious subfloors.
For more detail, read our engineered-floor subfloor preparation guide.
For boarded or suspended bases, read our timber subfloor preparation guide.
Fitting this floor
- Solid flooring must not be floated. Fully bond with a compatible flexible adhesive or secret-fix to a suitable timber subfloor where the board profile permits.
- Lay from at least three packs, inspect every board in good light and reject visible defects before fixing.
- Stagger end joints and avoid a repeating brick-bond pattern; do not pin expansion covers to the floor.
Use a system appropriate to the site and read our wood-floor adhesive guide.
Expansion, inspection and completion
- Provide at least a 15 mm perimeter gap (or the larger manufacturer-calculated allowance) at walls, door frames, pipes, hearths and fixed obstructions.
- Use movement breaks between rooms and wherever the manufacturer’s maximum uninterrupted span would be exceeded.
- Allow for cutting waste, grading and natural variation; mix boards across packs before fixing.
- Stop and contact Wiltshire Wood Flooring Supplies before fitting if the product, subfloor, site readings or proposed method do not match these requirements.
Not suitable for underfloor heating
This is a solid timber floor. It must not be installed over an underfloor-heating system.
- Do not rely on adhesive, underlay or thermostat controls to make this solid product suitable.
- Choose an engineered alternative with confirmed underfloor-heating compatibility.
- Contact Wiltshire Wood Flooring Supplies before ordering if the heating system or floor construction is uncertain.
