Morrells Induro XL1 1K Polyurethane Wood Floor Lacquer is a high-performance, single-component waterborne finish designed to provide a durable, clear and non-yellowing protective coating on interior timber floors.
Supplied ready to use straight from the container, Induro XL1 requires no separate catalyst or hardener and has none of the restricted pot-life associated with two-component lacquer systems.
Its smooth, self-levelling formulation provides excellent flow and clarity while helping protect timber against abrasion, scuffs, household spillages and everyday foot traffic. It is suitable for solid, engineered, parquet and herringbone wood flooring in domestic and light to medium commercial environments.
Supplied in a 5L container and available in Matt, Silk Matt and Extra Matt (Natro).

Wiltshire Wood Recommendation:
For most oak, pine and commonly used hardwood floors, apply one coat of
Morrells Induro GP Wood Floor Sealer
followed by two coats of Induro XL1 for domestic use or three coats for
commercial and higher-traffic applications.
For tropical, oily or potentially contaminated timber, use Morrells Induro Isosil Wood Floor Sealer instead of GP Sealer to isolate natural oils, waxes and residual contamination before lacquering.
Induro XL1 or Induro XL2?
| Product | System | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Morrells Induro XL1 |
1K waterborne polyurethane lacquer No catalyst required |
Domestic and light to medium commercial floors where convenient, ready-to-use application is preferred. |
| Morrells Induro XL2 |
2K waterborne polyurethane lacquer Catalyst included |
Busy domestic, commercial and high-traffic floors requiring greater abrasion, chemical and mechanical resistance. |
Choose Induro XL1 where simple one-component application is the priority. Choose Induro XL2 where maximum durability is required for demanding or heavily trafficked environments.
Choose Your Finish
| Finish | Appearance | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Extra Matt (Natro) | The lowest-sheen option, designed to provide a subtle and highly natural-looking surface with minimal visible reflection. | Contemporary interiors and customers wanting the closest appearance to untreated or lightly finished timber. |
| Matt | A restrained low-sheen finish that preserves a natural appearance while adding gentle depth to the timber. | Modern domestic and commercial floors where a balanced matt finish is preferred. |
| Silk Matt | A soft satin-style sheen that enhances grain definition, colour and visual depth. | Traditional and premium interiors where a richer, more defined timber appearance is desired. |
The finished appearance will vary according to the timber species, sanding sequence, selected sealer, application rate and lighting. Always complete a representative test area before treating the full floor.
Compatible Morrells Sealers
| Compatible Sealer | Colour Effect | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Morrells Induro GP Wood Floor Sealer | Enhances the natural warmth and grain definition of the timber. | Oak, pine and most commonly used solid and engineered flooring timbers. |
| Morrells Induro Isosil Sealer | Clear shellac-based barrier coat with excellent clarity. | Tropical, oily, resinous or potentially contaminated timber where natural oils, waxes or previous treatments may affect the lacquer. |
Induro XL1 may also be applied directly to correctly prepared bare timber where a primer is not required. For the most consistent colour, adhesion and professional finish, the appropriate Morrells sealer system is recommended.
Compatible Morrells Wood Stains
Induro XL1 can be used as part of a coloured Morrells floor-finishing system. Apply a suitable interior wood stain, allow it to dry fully, then use the appropriate Morrells sealer before applying the lacquer coats.
| Stain Range | Appearance | Application Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Morrells Light Fast Wood Stain | Fast-drying translucent colour with excellent grain definition and depth. | Apply evenly, remove excess stain and allow a minimum of approximately two hours before applying the selected floor sealer. |
| Morrells SCANDI Wood Stains | Nordic-inspired natural tones and contemporary pigmented colours. | Apply using the recommended rag-on, rag-off method and test the complete stain, sealer and lacquer system before treating the floor. |
Staining Important: Remove all excess stain and allow it to dry completely before applying the chosen sealer. Heavy stain deposits or unsuitable exterior and water-repellent stains may affect the adhesion of a waterborne lacquer system. Always test the complete finish on the actual timber.
Recommended Morrells Systems
| Floor or Desired Result | Recommended System |

Floor Preparation
- Inspect the floor and countersink any protruding nails or fixings.
- Sand the surface evenly back to clean, bare timber.
- After the 80–100 grit sanding stage, fill suitable fine joints using Morrells Mix & Fill mixed with clean sanding dust.
- Complete the final sanding sequence consistently across the full area.
- Vacuum thoroughly, including edges, corners and floor joints.
- Ensure the timber is clean, dry and free from oil, wax and contamination.
- If staining, apply the selected stain evenly, remove all excess and allow it to dry fully before sealing.
- Carry out a complete system test before treating the entire floor.
Application
- Stir Induro XL1 thoroughly before use, taking care not to introduce excessive air into the lacquer.
- Apply one even coat of the selected Morrells floor sealer where required.
- Allow the sealer to dry fully. Do not sand or denib the GP Sealer coat before applying the lacquer.
- Apply the first coat of Induro XL1 using a suitable floor roller, mohair flooring pad or T-bar applicator.
- Work evenly with the direction of the timber grain, maintaining a consistent film thickness and avoiding pooling.
- Allow a minimum of approximately 2–3 hours drying at 18°C.
- Lightly denib the dried lacquer using a fine abrasive such as 150–180 grit mesh .
- Vacuum thoroughly to remove all dust before applying the next coat.
- Apply the remaining lacquer coats required for the domestic or commercial system, denibbing between coats as necessary.
- Maintain suitable temperature and ventilation throughout application and curing.
Recommended Application Accessories
- Professional floor-finish rollers and applicators for controlled, even application.
- Sait 407mm Nylon Net Screens in a suitable fine grit for intermediate denibbing.
- Clean roller trays, paint kettles and application equipment suitable for waterborne floor coatings.
- Professional dust extraction and vacuuming equipment for removing sanding residue between coats.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Allow approximately 24 hours before light use.
- Allow approximately 5–7 days before heavy use, damp cleaning or covering the floor with rugs.
- For routine cleaning and deeper maintenance, use Morrells Induro GP Cleanse .
- Avoid steam cleaners, harsh detergents and excessive standing water.
- Fit protective felt pads beneath furniture and movable objects.
- Avoid dragging heavy furniture or equipment across the finished floor.
Important: Morrells Induro XL1 is supplied ready to use and does not require a catalyst or hardener. Although suitable for domestic and light to medium commercial environments, use Morrells Induro XL2 where maximum durability or demanding commercial performance is required. Always follow the current Morrells Technical and Safety Data Sheets and carry out an adhesion test when coating over an unfamiliar or previously treated surface.
