Morrells Induro GP Seal Wood Floor Sealer/Primer 5L

Morrells GP Wood Floor Sealer is a high-performance waterborne primer designed to enhance the natural warmth and grain definition of wooden flooring while providing an excellent base for Morrells Induro floor lacquer systems.

This advanced water-based floor sealer improves adhesion and ensures a consistent, professional finish when applying Morrells Induro waterborne lacquers. It creates a strong yet flexible base coat with excellent clarity and resistance to chemical and mechanical wear once the lacquer system is applied.

Unlike many waterborne sealers, Morrells GP Wood Floor Sealer does not require the addition of a separate crosslinking additive, making it straightforward and reliable to use in professional wood floor finishing systems.

This primer is suitable for most timber species including oak, pine and other common hardwood flooring. For tropical hardwoods or timber containing natural oils or waxes, Morrells Isosil shellac-based sealer is recommended instead.

Application Guidance

Ensure the floor has been properly sanded and is clean, dry and free from dust before applying the sealer.

After completing the sanding process, apply one even coat of Morrells GP Wood Floor Sealer using a suitable roller or floor applicator. The product should be applied evenly across the surface and allowed to dry before applying the chosen Morrells Induro lacquer system.

Do not sand or denib the GP sealer coat before applying the lacquer.

Preparation

Before sanding, inspect the floor for protruding nails or screws and remove or countersink them where necessary.

Floors should be sanded through multiple grit stages depending on the condition of the timber. For filling small gaps, Morrells Mix'n'Fill can be used with sanding dust after the 80–100 grit sanding stage.

Larger gaps should be filled using suitable wood fillers before completing the final sanding process.

Floor Staining

If staining the floor prior to sealing, Morrells Light Fast stains can be used to provide strong colour definition and highlight the natural grain of the timber.

Apply stain using a brush, rag or mohair pad and remove any excess stain with a clean cloth to prevent film build-up, which may affect the adhesion of subsequent lacquer coats.

Only stains designed specifically for interior wood flooring should be used, as decking or exterior stains often contain water-repellent additives that can prevent waterborne lacquers from adhering properly.
