Protimeter SurveyMaster 3 BLD5375 is a professional dual-function moisture meter combining pin-type measurement and non-invasive moisture scanning in one robust handheld instrument.
Use the non-invasive Search mode to rapidly scan floors, walls and other building materials for changes in moisture below the surface, then switch to pin Measure mode to investigate specific areas and obtain a direct reading from timber or a comparative Wood Moisture Equivalent reading from other materials.
The current SurveyMaster features a larger backlit display, colour-coded moisture indicators, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic calibration checks and user calibration of the non-invasive mode, making it an excellent choice for flooring contractors, building surveyors, restoration professionals and moisture investigations.
Why Choose the Protimeter SurveyMaster 3?
- Two moisture meters in one professional instrument.
- Pin mode for direct moisture measurement.
- Non-invasive Search mode for rapid surface and sub-surface scanning.
- Detects changes in moisture up to approximately 19mm below the surface.
- Suitable for wood, drywall, concrete and other building materials.
- Large backlit digital display.
- Green, yellow and red moisture-condition indicators.
- Bluetooth connectivity with the Protimeter Connect App.
- Store readings, photographs, dates, times and measurement locations.
- Automatic pin-mode calibration checks.
- User field calibration for the non-invasive mode.
- Auxiliary connection for compatible moisture probes.
- Two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Ideal For
- Checking timber before installing wood flooring.
- Scanning concrete and screeds for areas of increased moisture.
- Assessing solid and engineered wood flooring.
- Investigating moisture beneath compatible floor coverings.
- Checking walls, ceilings, plaster and drywall.
- Building surveys and property inspections.
- Flood and water-damage restoration.
- New-build and refurbishment projects.
- Comparing moisture levels across a floor or structure.
- Locating areas requiring further investigation or RH testing.
Two Measurement Modes
Non-Invasive Search Mode
Rapidly scans walls, floors and other materials without leaving pinholes. It gives relative readings from 60 to 999 and can identify changes in moisture up to approximately 19mm beneath the surface.
Pin Measure Mode
Uses the integral pins or a compatible external probe to provide direct percentage moisture-content readings in wood and comparative %WME readings in other building materials.
Reference Mode
Stores a baseline reading so subsequent measurements can be compared against a known dry area or reference point.
Professional Flooring Advice
Begin in non-invasive Search mode to scan the wider floor area and identify areas giving unusually high readings. Follow up with pin measurements where appropriate to investigate the material more closely.
For timber, the pin mode provides an actual percentage moisture-content reading. In materials other than wood, pin readings are displayed as comparative Wood Moisture Equivalent (%WME) values.
The SurveyMaster is extremely useful for locating areas of concern in concrete and screeds, but it does not replace a suitable hygrometer test where the flooring manufacturer requires a relative humidity reading from within the subfloor.

Using the Protimeter SurveyMaster
1. Establish a Dry Reference
Where possible, begin by taking readings from an area believed to be dry. This gives you a baseline against which other measurements can be compared.
2. Scan in Non-Invasive Mode
Place the flat sensor surface on the material being tested and allow the reading to stabilise. Take readings at regular intervals rather than sliding the meter continuously across the surface.
3. Identify Areas of Concern
Look for changes or unusually high readings compared with the dry reference. The non-invasive mode is intended to locate potential moisture rather than provide an exact moisture percentage.
4. Confirm with Pin Mode
Where appropriate, press the integral pins firmly into the material or connect the supplied heavy-duty moisture probe. Pin readings in wood represent actual moisture content, while other materials are shown as comparative %WME values.
5. Save the Results
Connect the SurveyMaster to the Protimeter Connect App to record readings, create individual jobs and attach photographs, dates, times, material types and measurement locations.
Understanding the Readings
Pin mode uses electrical conductance between the two measuring pins. In wood, this gives an actual percentage moisture-content reading. In plaster, masonry and other materials, the value is expressed as %WME for comparative assessment.
Non-invasive Search mode produces a relative reading rather than an exact percentage. Its main purpose is to identify changes in moisture across a surface and locate areas that may require further testing.
Conductive materials such as metal, carbon and salts can influence both measurement methods and may produce unusually high results.
What Is Included?
- Protimeter SurveyMaster BLD5375 moisture meter.
- Heavy-duty moisture probe and connecting lead.
- Protective pouch with belt loop.
- Quick-start guide.
- Wood calibration chart.
Important Information
- The integral measuring pins are extremely sharp and should be covered when not in use.
- Take several readings across the test area rather than relying on one isolated measurement.
- Pin readings outside timber are comparative %WME values, not exact moisture percentages.
- Non-invasive Search mode gives relative readings and is intended to locate areas of concern.
- Metal, conductive salts, carbon and hidden services can affect readings.
- Do not slide the meter across surfaces when using non-invasive mode.
- The SurveyMaster does not replace a specified relative humidity test for concrete or screeds.
- Always follow the flooring manufacturer’s permitted moisture limits and testing requirements.
SurveyMaster or Digital Mini?
Choose the Protimeter Digital Mini when your primary requirement is direct pin testing of timber and building materials.
Choose the Protimeter SurveyMaster when you also want non-invasive scanning to rapidly inspect wider areas and locate potential moisture beneath surfaces before taking more targeted pin readings.
