Protimeter Digital Mini 3 BLD5775 is a professional pin-type moisture meter designed for assessing moisture levels in timber and a wide range of building materials during flooring installations, refurbishment work, property surveys and moisture investigations.
Sharp integral pins provide instant surface readings, while the large backlit digital display and colour-coded LED scale make results quick and easy to interpret. Bluetooth connectivity allows readings to be saved in the Protimeter Connect App with a date and time stamp, helping installers and surveyors maintain an organised record of site measurements.
The current Digital Mini also features automatic calibration checks, improved battery life and an auxiliary connection for compatible Protimeter probes, making it a versatile moisture-testing tool for professional flooring and building work.

Professional Flooring Advice
Before installing wood flooring, check the moisture content of the flooring and timber subfloor in several locations rather than relying on a single reading. Record the results and compare them with the flooring manufacturer’s installation requirements.
The Digital Mini gives an actual percentage moisture-content reading when used correctly in wood. Readings taken in other building materials are displayed as Wood Moisture Equivalent (%WME) values and should be used for comparison and moisture investigation rather than treated as an exact percentage of moisture by weight.
How the Moisture Readings Work
Digital Reading
The large backlit LCD displays the measured moisture value clearly for accurate recording and comparison.
Colour LED Scale
Green, yellow and red indicators provide an immediate visual guide showing dry, at-risk and wet moisture conditions.
Bluetooth Records
Connect to the Protimeter Connect App to save readings with a date and time stamp for future reference.

How to Use the Protimeter Digital Mini
1. Select the Test Area
Choose representative areas of the timber or building material. For flooring installations, take multiple readings throughout the room and pay particular attention to external walls, doorways, plumbing routes and areas where moisture may be concentrated.
2. Insert the Pins
Remove the protective cap and push the integral pins firmly into the surface. Ensure both pins make good contact with the material.
3. Read the Display
Record the digital value and note the green, yellow or red LED indication. Take several readings and compare them rather than relying on one isolated result.
4. Save the Reading
Connect the meter to the Protimeter Connect App by Bluetooth to save the measurement with its date and time stamp.
5. Use an Optional Probe Where Required
Compatible external probes can be connected through the auxiliary port for difficult-to-reach areas or deeper moisture investigation.
Important Information
- The measuring pins are extremely sharp and should be covered when not in use.
- Measurements in wood represent moisture content; readings in other materials are comparative %WME values.
- Take several readings across the test area for a reliable assessment.
- Metal fixings, salts, conductive materials and surface contamination can affect readings.
- Do not use a pin meter alone to confirm the relative humidity of a concrete screed.
- Concrete and screed testing may require a suitable in-situ or surface hygrometer system.
- Always follow the flooring manufacturer’s permitted moisture limits.
- Inspect and replace damaged or worn measuring pins when required.
Pin Meter or Concrete Hygrometer?
The Protimeter Digital Mini is particularly useful for checking timber and carrying out comparative moisture investigations in building materials. It should not be confused with a hygrometer used to establish the relative humidity of a concrete or sand-and-cement screed.
For wood-flooring installations, the Digital Mini can help assess timber flooring, plywood, joists and other wooden components. Where the flooring manufacturer requires an RH result from a cementitious subfloor, use the appropriate hygrometer test method.
