Lecol 5500 Parquet Flooring Adhesive is a professional water-free synthetic resin adhesive for bonding solid wood flooring, engineered flooring and parquet to correctly prepared internal subfloors.
It is ready to use, has strong initial grab and high filling capacity, and is available in 6kg and 16kg tins.
Why Choose Lecol 5500?
- Strong initial grab and high bond strength
- High filling capacity
- Ready to use straight from the tin
- Suitable for solid wood, engineered flooring and parquet
- Suitable for properly prepared absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors
- Suitable for compatible underfloor heating systems
Reclaimed parquet & bitumen residue:
Lecol acknowledges that many flooring contractors use Lecol 5500 when re-laying reclaimed parquet blocks where old bitumen has been cleaned back as thoroughly as practical and only residual traces remain. Lecol does not guarantee adhesion to bitumen, so the blocks must be stable and the floor installed onto a solid, sound sub-base.
If old bitumen residue remains on the subfloor itself, Lecol's preferred approach is to assess and encapsulate the residue with a suitable preparation system rather than bond directly onto it.
Trowel & Coverage Guide
| Application | Trowel | Approx. spread |
|---|---|---|
| Lecol manufacturer specification | TKB B2 serrated trowel (Pajarito C) | Approx. 700–900g/m² |
Lecol's technical data sheet states approximately 700–900g/m² depending on the substrate and adhesive bed. Its current product guidance quotes approximately 1kg/m². In practice, coverage will vary with the flooring size, trowel angle and subfloor texture.
Approximate Pack Coverage
| 6kg tin | Approximately 6–8m² |
|---|---|
| 16kg tin | Approximately 16–22m² |

Application
- Ensure the subfloor is dry, clean, level, mechanically sound and correctly prepared.
- Use the manufacturer-specified serrated trowel, such as TKB B2 (Pajarito C). Obtain Lecol's approval before substituting a different notch.
- Spread only as much adhesive as can be covered within the open time.
- Lay the flooring immediately and press firmly into the adhesive to achieve good transfer.
- Check adhesive transfer regularly during installation.
Important: Lecol's technical data sheet does not recommend installation onto bitumen insulating coatings and requires properly prepared substrates. Residual bitumen on reclaimed parquet is a recognised contractor use described by Lecol, but it is not guaranteed by the manufacturer. Always assess each project individually and follow the latest Lecol technical guidance.
