Bona Mix & Fill Plus is a professional waterborne wood floor gap filler with a high solids content, designed to be mixed with fine sanding dust from the floor being restored.
The resulting filler closely matches the natural colour of the timber and can be used to fill joints and minor cavities up to approximately 3mm wide. Its high filling capacity and short drying time mean that, under normal conditions, a single application is often sufficient.
Why Choose Bona Mix & Fill Plus?
- Suitable for gaps up to approximately 3mm wide
- High filling capacity
- Fast drying
- Mixes with sanding dust for a natural colour match
- Usually requires only one application
- Easy to sand once dry
- Anti-corrosive waterborne formulation
- Compatible with Bona lacquer and oil systems
Recommended Wood Types
Bona Mix & Fill Plus is particularly recommended for light to medium-coloured timber species, including:
- Oak
- Beech
- Pine
- Maple
- Other similar light to medium-coloured wood species
For the best colour match:
Use fine, clean sanding dust collected from the same floor being treated.
Mix until a smooth, easily spreadable consistency is achieved.

Recommended Application Tool
Apply Bona Mix & Fill Plus using a Bona flat-bladed stainless steel trowel to work the filler evenly into the joints and cavities.
Preparation
- Ensure the floor is dry, acclimatised and free from wax, dirt and contamination.
- Sand the floor back to bare timber using 60–80 grit before the final sanding cut.
- Use only fine, clean sanding dust from the floor being treated.
- Keep the room and product temperature above 13°C during application and drying.
- For best results, work at approximately 18–22°C and 40–60% relative humidity.
Application
- Shake the container thoroughly before use.
- Mix Bona Mix & Fill Plus with fine, clean sanding dust until a smooth, easily spreadable consistency is achieved.
- Apply the mixture evenly across the floor using a stainless steel flat-bladed trowel.
- Work the filler firmly into the joints and avoid leaving heavy streaks or accumulations on the surface.
- Allow the filler to dry and apply a second treatment where required.
- Once dry, sand away excess filler using approximately 100 grit abrasive.
- Apply the selected Bona lacquer or oil system in accordance with its instructions.
Important: Bona advises that gaps within plank or end-grain floors are not normally filled because seasonal timber movement may cause the dried filler to break loose. Large or moving gaps should be assessed before treatment.
