Its smooth consistency provides excellent flow, levelling and filling power, while the ready-to-use 1K formulation requires no separate hardener or mixing.

Wiltshire Wood Recommendation:
For the most dependable and even result, use one coat of a suitable Bona wood floor primer followed by two coats of Bona Mega EVO. A primer is particularly important on softwood plank floors, end-grain flooring and hardwood floors installed over underfloor heating, where there is a greater risk of side-bonding.
Choose Your Sheen
| Finish | Sheen at 60° | Appearance |
|---|---|---|
| Ultra Matt | Approximately 5% | The lowest-sheen option, creating a highly natural, understated appearance with very little visible reflection. |
| Extra Matt | Approximately 10% | A modern low-sheen finish that keeps the floor looking natural while remaining straightforward to maintain. |
| Matt | Approximately 20% | A balanced matt finish with slightly more depth and definition than Extra Matt. |
| Silk Matt | Approximately 40% | A soft satin-style sheen that enhances timber colour, grain and visual depth. |
Sheen figures are laboratory measurements taken on glass. The appearance on timber will vary according to the wood species, sanding sequence, primer, application rate and lighting.
Compatible Bona Primers
| Compatible Primer | Colour Effect | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Bona Classic UX | Medium-light natural timber colour | The dependable all-round system for most wood species and everyday flooring projects. |
| Bona Natural Primer | Light, freshly sanded raw wood appearance | Pale and untreated-looking floors, particularly with Mega EVO Ultra Matt. |
| Bona White | Whitewashed Scandinavian appearance | Oak, ash, pine and lighter timber floors requiring a pale or whitewashed finish. |
| Bona Intense | Medium-rich, warm timber colour | Most wood species, including dense and tropical timbers, plank floors and floors over underfloor heating. |
| Bona Amber | Deep, traditional amber colour | Oak, darker timbers and floors requiring the rich appearance associated with traditional solvent-based finishes. |
Always test the complete primer and lacquer system on the actual timber before treating the full floor. Timber species, existing repairs and natural colour variation will affect the finished appearance.

- Bona 250mm Roller Handle – compatible with the Bona SuperCoat Roller Head.

- Complete the final sanding sequence consistently across the full area.
- Remove all sanding dust using professional dust extraction and vacuuming.
- Ensure the floor is dry and free from oil, wax, polish and contamination.

| Floor Preparation | Recommended Coating System |
|---|---|
| Untreated timber using a Bona primer | 1 coat Bona primer followed by 2 coats Bona Mega EVO |
| Untreated timber without a primer | 3 coats Bona Mega EVO |
Primer Required on Higher-Movement Floors:
Always use a suitable Bona primer on floors with an increased risk of side-bonding, including end-grain floors, softwood plank floors and hardwood floors installed over underfloor heating.
Application
- Allow the lacquer to reach room temperature, fit the container filter and shake vigorously for approximately 60 seconds.
- Apply evenly using a Bona roller or swivel-head applicator at approximately 8–10m² per litre.
- Roll alternately across and with the direction of the timber grain.
- Maintain a wet edge throughout and avoid puddles, heavy deposits and dry overlaps.
- Allow each coat to dry thoroughly for approximately 1–2 hours before continuing.
- Before the final coat, carry out an intermediate abrasion using the Bona Scrad system at P150 grit or finer, then remove all dust.
- Apply the final coat evenly and maintain good ventilation throughout drying.
- Where any coat has been left for more than 24 hours, always abrade before applying the next coat.
Gap & Surface Preparation
Before applying the primer or lacquer, fill fine joints and minor defects using Bona Mix & Fill Plus . For flexible perimeter gaps around skirting boards and thresholds, use Bona Gap Master where appropriate.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- For everyday maintenance, use a pH-neutral cleaner designed for lacquered timber floors, such as the Bona Premium Wood Floor Spray Mop .
- Avoid general household detergents, steam cleaners and excessive water.
- Do not damp mop, cover the floor with rugs or place protective coverings over it until the lacquer has fully cured.
- Use suitable felt protection beneath furniture and avoid dragging heavy objects across the floor.
Important: Light foot traffic may resume after approximately 8 hours, but the surface remains vulnerable to scratching until fully cured. Bona Mega EVO reaches approximately 80% cure after 24 hours and full cure after around 5 days under normal conditions. Do not cover, damp mop or expose the floor to heavy use before full cure. Always follow the current Bona Technical Data Sheet.
