The Bona Quattro Disc is a genuine Bona four-pad finishing attachment designed for use with the Bona FlexiSand . It provides a smooth, controlled sanding action for intermediate and final sanding, helping remove drum marks, edging scratches and minor sanding imperfections before staining, oiling or lacquering.
Although it resembles a four-disc drive plate, the Quattro Disc works very differently from the geared Bona Power Drive. The Quattro carrier is driven by the FlexiSand's central shaft, while its four individual 150mm pads sit at a slight angle and rotate independently as the attachment moves across the floor.
This free-moving four-pad action is significantly less aggressive than the Power Drive system. It follows the surface smoothly and distributes the sanding action across four separate pads, making it particularly effective for producing an even final scratch pattern without heavy overlap lines.
The Bona Quattro Disc is supplied complete with four standard 150mm sanding pads.

How the Quattro Disc Works
The Quattro Disc mounts directly onto the Bona FlexiSand's main drive shaft and rotates beneath the machine in the same general manner as a conventional buffer attachment.
The four individual sanding pads are positioned at a slight angle and rotate independently as the main carrier moves. Unlike the geared Power Drive, the individual discs are not mechanically driven at high speed.
This creates a gentler, more forgiving sanding action that follows the surface and distributes the scratch pattern evenly. It is therefore particularly suitable for final preparation work where surface consistency is more important than aggressive timber removal.
Recommended Applications
Deep Clean and Overcoat Preparation
The Bona Quattro Disc can be fitted with four 150mm Bona Diamond Abrasive Discs for controlled superficial abrasion of existing floor coatings.
Bona Diamond Abrasives produce a consistent scratch pattern with minimal visible swirl marks, making them particularly suitable for professional deep-clean and overcoat systems.
When preparing an existing Bona lacquered floor for recoating, the Quattro Disc provides a controlled way to abrade the surface before applying a compatible finish such as Bona Traffic HD, subject to the correct Bona preparation and coating procedure.
Bona Diamond Abrasive Discs are not currently supplied with this product and may need to be purchased separately.

Quattro Disc vs Power Drive
| Feature | Bona Quattro Disc | Bona Power Drive |
|---|---|---|
| Disc operation | Four independently rotating pads | Four mechanically geared sanding discs |
| Sanding action | Controlled and forgiving | Aggressive and powerful |
| Primary purpose | Intermediate sanding and final finishing | Heavy sanding and removal back to bare timber |
| Overlap marks | Helps minimise visible overlap lines | Requires controlled technique due to greater cutting power |
| Stain and coloured-oil preparation | Highly suitable | Can be too aggressive for some final preparation stages |
The Quattro Disc is particularly useful when preparing floors for stains, coloured oils or natural-looking finishes. These products can highlight inconsistencies in the sanding pattern, including overlap lines and aggressive circular scratches.
The independent four-pad action helps blend the floor more evenly, providing a consistent surface before colour or finish is applied.
Always follow an appropriate grit sequence and inspect the floor carefully under good lighting before applying stain, oil, primer or lacquer.
The four sanding pads should sit evenly and apply consistent pressure across the floor. If one or more pads become damaged, compressed or excessively worn, replacing all four together helps maintain the balance and performance of the Quattro Disc.
Genuine Bona Quattro Disc Replacement Pads are available separately as a complete set of four.
